Join Purple Sage Soap Company for a festive morning or afternoon of creativity at Southdean Village Hall, Hawick. In this special two-hour workshop, you’ll make your very own batch of beautifully spiced Mulled Wine Soap, the perfect handmade gift for Christmas.

Event Description

Get into the Christmas spirit with a relaxed, hands-on soap making workshop led by Purple Sage Soap, an award-winning, plant-based skincare brand based in the Scottish Borders.

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll discover the traditional cold-process method of soap making, the same technique we use to craft our luxury artisan soaps and create your own seasonal batch of Mulled Wine Soap, infused with essential oils of sweet orange, lemon, cinnamon, and clove.

Once your soap is poured, you’ll finish it with festive botanicals such as dried orange slices, star anise, and colourful peppercorns, ready to cure in time for Christmas gifting.

This class focuses on creativity, sustainability, and seasonal fun, a perfect way to unwind and learn something new.

You’ll learn:

✔ How to safely handle ingredients and measure precisely
✔ How to decorate your soap using natural botanicals
✔ Tips for curing and packaging your soaps at home

You’ll take home:
🧼 Around eight bars of your own handmade soap (approx. 1kg each), ready to cure

No previous experience is required, just bring your enthusiasm and a love for all things natural and handmade.  Over 16 years only.

Cancellation Policy

As this is a small group workshop with limited places, all bookings are non-refundable once confirmed.

Under UK consumer law, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period for online bookings; however, by reserving a place at this time-specific event, you acknowledge that the service will be provided on a set date and waive this right once payment is made (in line with Regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013).

If you can no longer attend, you’re welcome to:

• Transfer your booking to another person (please notify us of their details in advance), or

• Move your booking to a future workshop if spaces are available.

If Purple Sage Soap Company must cancel or postpone the workshop due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. illness, severe weather, or venue issues), you will be offered either:

• A full refund, or

• A transfer to another available workshop date.

Your booking helps cover venue hire, materials, and preparation time for this small independent business — thank you for supporting local artisan workshops.

Health & Safety Disclaimer

Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. Please read the following before attending:

• All materials and ingredients are provided by Purple Sage Soap Company Ltd and comply with UK cosmetic safety regulations.

• Full personal protective equipment (PPE): gloves, apron, and safety goggles, will be supplied.

• The session involves handling sodium hydroxide (lye), which will be demonstrated and supervised at all times by a trained instructor.

• No equipment is shared between participants to maintain hygiene and safety standards.

• Soaps made during the workshop are for external use only and must cure for a minimum of four weeks before use or gifting.

• Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for practical work.

• Please inform us of any allergies or sensitivities prior to the workshop.

By booking a ticket, you confirm that you understand and agree to follow the safety guidance provided and accept personal responsibility for your participation during the workshop.

By purchasing a ticket, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the Cancellation Policy & Health and Safety Disclaimer set out by Purple Sage Soap Company Ltd. You acknowledge that this is a dated, time-specific event and that, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, the statutory 14-day cooling-off period does not apply once your booking is confirmed.

All orders are processed within 3 to 5 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You will receive another notification when your order has shipped. 

Please note that due to high volumes of orders or postal service problems that may be outside of our control, we reserve the right to delay your order.  Where possible we will always notify you.
